SI ADELAIDE and DISTRICT
We have had a friendship link with the
Eastern Districts of Adelaide Club, Australia for over thirty years. For most of the time, because of the great
distance apart, we have kept in touch through correspondence. We have met up at international conventions
across the world. The last of these was
at Glasgow in 2007 when we caught up with Margaret Trudinger (Trudy), a
remarkable lady in her 90s who, despite
breaking her hip a few weeks before,
made the long trip to Glasgow. We have undertaken at least one joint
project – raising funds to sponsor a Fijian lady to train in home economics
for three years.
Last year the Eastern Districts Club
celebrated its 40th anniversary and in recognition of this
milestone we sent a small contribution to their project to help drought
stricken Australian farmers.
Over the years when members have been over
here in Scotland or in South Australia we have met to exchange greetings and
strengthen friendship ties. Although far
apart in distance our ethos remains very similar.
