Immediate Past President Dr Mary Scott (right) hands the chain of office to the new President Cherry McIntyre

President Cherry McIntyre says:

Soroptimist International of Dunfermline enters its 60th year stronger and more active than ever. We now have 50 members who contribute their skills and talents to the many and varied communities to which they all belong - and especially to the world wide community of Soroptimists. I am honoured to be their President.

This year we will carry forward projects in which we can make a practical difference to our local community. We will work with the staff of Fife Young Carers to provide funds and practical help for young people who are caring for others ill or with a disability. Projects involving the local environment are also on the agenda. These two themes should provide many opportunities for participation by Club members and may attract new members, who are always welcome.

We will continue to raise funds throughout the year for project SIerra , and will work with other Clubs within SIGBI to raise awareness of issues relating to the Trafficking of Women and Children.

Soroptimist International is a dynamic organisation  which provides a focus for women who want to make a difference. The International aspect of the organisation allows us to contribute to Big Projects such as Project SIerra, while the local Club structure allows us to contribute in ways that draw on the experiences of our working lives. All this is achieved with the bonus of fun, enduring friendship and support within the Club and between Clubs.

I wish all who read this a fulfilling year.
