Agnes Allan was installed as President at the AGM
on 28 April 2011.
She has a full
programme of meetings and events arranged for the year, with the themes being raising
awareness of deafness and also supporting Soroptimist International’s long term
project on Leadership and Education.
At
our annual charter lunch the speaker will mark the 100th anniversary
of RNID and their change of name to Action on Hearing Loss, as well as raising awareness
of deafness and of the support available.
Activities
promoting Leadership and Education throughout the year will include marking
International Literacy Day with speakers on literacy at a local level as well
as a book collection to support education in the 3rd World.
Agnes’s
fundraising events will primarily support Mary’s Meals, which enables half a
million children everyday to attend school, by providing them with a free meal.
